REVIEW: SuperBeets Sport Powder

REVIEW: SuperBeets Sport Powder

This is going to sound a little weird, but I’ve had an interest in beets for a while.

I’ve heard random claims here and there that beets/beet juice can help with endurance, which as a runner, immediately grabbed my interest. However, besides occasionally adding beets to a salad, I’ve never taken any further action to study the claims or start incorporating beets into my fitness routine. That changed this weekend. (At least sort of. More on that ahead!)

I recently watched the documentary, The Game Changers on Netflix, and was reminded again about the claims surrounding beets and beet juice, so when I spotted a sample package of SuperBeets Sport at the store, it felt like a sign to give it a try.

PRODUCT REVIEW: Liquid I.V. vs. Nuun

PRODUCT REVIEW: Liquid I.V. vs. Nuun

As a runner in Florida, especially in the summertime, I have a serious need for electrolyte replacement to avoid the whole muscle cramping, headache-y, ears pounding feeling. While I do love an original lemon-lime Gatorade or one of the other traditional sports drinks, there are now so many other electrolyte drink options on the market!

I’ve been making an effort to try out different electrolyte replacement brands, including Liquid I.V. Hydration Multiplier and Nuun Sport tablets, to see what works best for me. I do like both, but there are some major differences between the two!

Dealing with Disappointment: Running Edition

Dealing with Disappointment: Running Edition

I’m finally ready to talk about it.

The 15k race that I look forward to all year long- and spent months training for- didn’t go the way I wanted. No PR. No fancy top 10% finisher hat. Just a headache and a participation medal.

While it’s easy to get stuck in the disappointment (and I was for a few days), I’ve come to terms with it all. If you’re a runner who misses a set goal, maybe my thought process will help you!

What I’m Into: December 2022

What I’m Into: December 2022

Happy winter!

Unfortunately, It seems like the new season is really going to make its arrival known over the coming days with what the news keeps calling a ‘bomb cyclone’ storm. So please stay safe and stay warm!

I’ll admit I’ve been in a bit of a rut lately when it comes to posting. I don’t know if it’s a lack of ideas, the busyness surrounding this time of year, or what. But either way, I hope I come out of it soon.

Today, I wanted to return with a classic post I haven’t done in a while- a listing of my recent obsessions.

Nuun Sport Hydration Tablet Flavor Reviews

Nuun Sport Hydration Tablet Flavor Reviews

Running in the summer is tough.

Running in Florida is tough.

Running in the summer in Florida is nearly impossible.

But I’m determined to gain some running ground, so I decided to get serious about hydration and electrolytes post-runs. After trying out samples of a few different products on the market, I decided to take the leap and ordered a variety pack of Nuun Sport from Amazon featuring six flavors: Tri-Berry, Grape, Tropical, Fruit Punch, Strawberry Lemonade, and Lemon Lime.

While I find all to be drinkable, I wanted to share my rankings of the flavors (with hopes of trying out more in the future).

Breaking A Running Rut: 3 Things I’m Trying

Breaking A Running Rut: 3 Things I’m Trying

I think I’m a bad runner.

The more I read about running, the more I realize I have no idea what I’m doing.

I started out with a New Year’s resolution to run a 15K and have kept returning to the same race year after year for 7 straight years now. While I am gradually getting faster each race (I’m not counting the year I had just gotten over the flu.. or the year it was hot), I want to get even faster. I have a specific goal I’m aiming for for next year, but it’s ambitious- like shaving 10 to 15 minutes off my total time ambitious. While not impossible per se, it will involve me doing something different.

3 Lessons I Learned From My First Half Marathon

3 Lessons I Learned From My First Half Marathon

I did it!

I survived 13.1 miles– something I could have never imagined doing just a few years ago.

It wasn’t pretty or easy (thinking of you, side cramp at mile 12), but I pulled through and couldn’t be more proud of myself! Now that it’s all over and I’ve had a few days to recover, I’ve come away with three key lessons.
