Since I’ve been on a big fantasy kick lately, I tried to force myself to read a few other books outside of that genre this month, including a horror novel in the spirit of fall.

Despite my intentions to read some beach-y, fun summer books… that didn’t happen.
In fact, my reading seemed to slow way down this month. In part, because I was traveling and exhausted. But I did also tackle a 784-page book, so that likely played a role.

I have a confession.
Summer is only just officially in full swing… and yet, I find myself already opening my fall candles and smelling them. I love that time of the year, but I’m trying to get myself to embrace the season I’m in more. Maybe, I’ll actually read some summer/beachy books in July!

I feel like I have so many things I want to work on and accomplish before the year’s end, but I can’t seem to get myself to actually do the things. Anyone else struggling with this lately?

March proved to be a solid month of reading for me, finishing six books!
It’s odd because I definitely seem to be continuing my lean toward non-fiction this year. I usually consider myself to be an avid fiction reader with a few non-fiction titles sprinkled in. It must be all the running books!

I feel like I’ve released a big breath of air. The holidays are behind us and it’s time to turn over a fresh leaf with 2023. I’m definitely the person who likes the start of a new year and imagining all the possibilities it can hold.
I hope the new year inspires me to pick up my reading again. I fell a bit off the tracks in December, only finishing 4 books:

– Blink by Malcolm Gladwell
– Glute Lab by Bret Contreras and Glen Cordoza
I know reading isn’t a competition or about the numbers, but I feel like my brain gets stagnant when I’m not reading enough. I love having a near constant input of new ideas and stories.

August was… an interesting month for me. I was a sick for bit. I started a new challenge that could take me the next five years to complete. I celebrated a milestone birthday. Oh, and I finished writing my first book. (Future post on that coming soon!) It also in a way marked the closing of summer and the start of fall- even though the temperatures don’t reflect that quite yet. So, to say it was a month of change would be an understatement.
In terms of books (which is what you’re really here for), I read 7 books in August featuring both non-fiction and fiction:

I feel like summer has flown by.
